So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye

It's been a lovely 3.5 years, Deloitte, but it's time for Jeremy to move on. He really enjoyed the continual 70-hour work weeks, and he sure loved seeing his kids only on the weekends. He knows you tried hard. He did appreciate the vacation time given to help him recuperate after 5 hard months. And El Gaucho was nice too. But really, it's you, not him. He's ready for something new. Thanks anyway.

Starting Monday, Jeremy will be working at Standard Insurance in their SEC reporting division. He is really excited about this new opportunity. I am too. I hear that the people who work at Standard eat dinner with their families!

Christmas for Dad

We are planning ahead this year because of my due date:

me: Carolyn, what should we get Dad this year for Christmas?
Carolyn: huh?
me: A present. What kind of present do you want to get Papa?
Carolyn: uh....to come home.

Luckily for Carolyn, Jeremy has the month of December pretty much off to welcome the new baby.

Happy Birthday Jeremy!

June is our month for celebrations. Unfortunately for Jeremy, his birthday comes just barely after Father's Day and our anniversary, so usually I am all out of ideas for doing nice things for him. But this year, due to pregnancy sickness, Jeremy did everything for our anniversary/Carolyn's birthday/Father's Day weekend. So today, he gets a home-cooked meal. One that doesn't come from the freezer. One I won't ask him to cook while I go upstairs and lie down. Heck, I'll even throw in his favorite dessert. If he's really lucky, I won't even ask him to do the dishes afterward. Jeremy's willingness to accept this as something out of the ordinary attests to the wonderful man I married. So today, I salute you, Jeremy Horner. You're the best!

What a weekend.

Our camera is still broken, but we just had a very enjoyable weekend. Jeremy had a "team building" weekend in Sunriver, OR. Families were invited as well. We thought this would be a good time to have our first night without Carolyn. Friday, we took her over to her cousins' home. Oh, how she loved it. She shared a room with Ethan and Aidan, and, I think, enjoyed herself like never before. She had all these friends that never had to leave!

We also had a great weekend. We were given gift certificates to the spa at the resort and had a relaxing afternoon being massaged and pedicured (well, only I was pedicured). We were able to sleep in until 9:30! I could walk out of the room and not worry about how much trouble Carolyn would be in before I got back. We did miss her, but it was still tons of fun. We are very grateful to Gordon and Rachel for taking Carolyn in so we could have our fun weekend trip.

We picked Carolyn up this evening and she was so worn out from her fun that we couldn't keep her up until 7:30! This girl was not made to be an only child. She needs built-in friends at all times. Anyway, it was a fun time for all.

So that's what he does at work...

Jeremy returned from Utah last Saturday only to leave town once again for work training. Deloitte holds their training in some place called Skamania close to the Columbia Gorge. Anyway, this is what Jeremy does with time away from us...

Happy Belated Birthday, Jeremy!

On Sunday, Carolyn and Harry had a birthday dinner for Jeremy. I think it's been six years or so since Jeremy had a birthday with his family. Anyway, his sister, Melissa, and her husband, Ian, came over to join in the festivities. And what better way to celebrate a birthday than to give CA some presents?
